SUMMARY:Knowing Our History to Strengthen Civic Engagement
DESCRIPTION:The first building block to civic engagement is knowing our history. Learn how local leaders are connecting history and civic engagement. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn order to shape our collective future in America\, we must understand the past. As more people get involved in your community\, knowing the historical context of your community is so important. To help present history in new and accessible ways\, local leaders and organizations are partnering with history organizations for unique collaborations. \nFor “Knowing Our History to Strengthen Civic Engagement\,” we’re excited to be joined by experts and leaders from Made By Us – a national coalition of leading history\, civic\, and local organizations\, coming together to pool resources and find new ways to help people better understand and engage with the past. We’ll be joined by Nathaniel Sheidley\, Ph.D. (Revolutionary Spaces)\, Cameron Patterson (Robert Russa Moton Museum) Caroline Klibanoff (Made By Us). \nThey’ll help you challenge yourself to bring history into the mix for informed participation in your communities. We’ll also discuss how you might identify in your area you can work with for a collaboration on history. \nWe hope to see you there! Throughout this initiative\, NCoC will organize national and community leaders around various topics that advance full participation in our democracy. \nAll Learn\, Ask\, & Share calls will take place as collaborative zoom calls.
