DESCRIPTION:Together\, we are better! Join the Longwood student-led event for a moment of solidarity and unity! On January 20th\, 2025\, at 2pm\, the procession will begin at Radcliff Hall \, and conclude at the Moton Museum\, followed by closing remarks and fellowship lead by Dr. James J. Fedderman. \nDr. James J. Fedderman was elected as Virginia Education Association President in 2020\, making him the first African American male in the 150-plus year VEA history to serve in office. DESCRIPTION:“In recent years\, we’ve seen concepts and ideas that many valued and embraced\, become controversial and even toxic. Schools\, organizations\, and corporations which aspire to build the beloved communities that Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. envisioned\, now walk on eggshells. What words can we say? What concepts can we explore? What topics are now offensive? \nIn this presentation Dr. Walter Kimbrough will examine where Americans are in terms of building beloved communities\, and despite the new climate\, seek to identify new pathways to reach that goal. Participants will learn more about King’s idea of the beloved community and walkway with ideas for achieving that goal.” \n-CAMPUSPEAK \nReception begins at 5:00pm in the Oppenheimer Gallery\, speaker begins at 6:30pm in the Soza Ballroom
