About the Moton Legacy Campaign

The Moton Family Challenge is back as part of Moton Live 2024!

The Moton Legacy Campaign continues the proud tradition of the Moton Family Challenge, a cornerstone of the museum’s mission to honor the families and school-aged children at the heart of Prince Edward County’s fight for civil rights in education from 1951 to 1964. Developed by Mrs. Joy Cabarrus Speakes, the Family Challenge raised over $400,000 and inspired countless supporters to make a difference. Now, the Legacy Moton Legacy Campaign offers a renewed opportunity to participate in this impactful mission.

While staying true to the values and spirit of the original challenge, the Moton Legacy Challenge introduces exciting new features, including an online platform and donor raffle, ensuring even more ways to get involved. By joining us, you are helping to preserve the legacy of sacrifice and transformation that shaped American education for all.

All donors will have the opportunity to win exciting prizes sponsored by local businesses, with winners drawn at the end of Moton Live.
