One of Moton’s most cherished traditions gathers us again: the Moton Community Prayer Breakfast begins next Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 7:30 a.m. in the Moton auditorium.
This is more than toast and coffee. It’s our oldest gathering—a moment to pause, reflect, and lift our shared hopes through prayer and quiet strength. It carries forward decades of community, rooted in the story of Moton and the student-led legacy at the heart of civil rights. The breakfasts, sponsored by Centra Southside Community Hospital, offers a unique opportunity for individuals from all walks of life to unite in prayer, reflecting on topics that resonate with our community’s needs and aspirations. The Robert Russa Moton Museum is honored to continue this tradition and invites all community members to participate in these uplifting events. Let us come together to share in the power of prayer and community, reinforcing our commitment to a society built on mutual respect, understanding, and progress.
Mark your calendars for this fall’s breakfasts:
Let’s fill the room with neighbors, friends, and voices lifted together. The breakfast, catered by Eanse Catering, is free and all are welcome to attend. Interested in being a prayer leader? Please contact Sherre Oke at [email protected]
Any gift has the ability to make an impact that far exceeds its size. Together we can work to share the Moton Story and ensure that countless individuals know how Prince Edward County became the birthplace of the student-led civil rights movement.
2022 gifts helped us engage with more than 20,000 individuals via our onsite and offsite programming.
Help us continue this important work with your gift. All donations are tax deductible.
