Author Stephanie Deutsch to speak Oct. 26th

Join author and New York Times contributor Stephanie Deutsch for a book talk and signing at the Moton Museum on Friday, October 26th from noon-1pm.

In her newest book, You Need a Schoolhouse: Booker T. Washington, Julius Rosenwald, and the Building of Schools for the Segregated South, Deutsch explores the extraordinary relationship between former slaved turned leading black educator, Booker T. Washington, and Chicago philanthropist and president of Sears, Roebuck & Company, Julius Rosenwald.  Their unlikely friendship would lead to the building of over five thousand schoolhouses for black students from Maryland to Texas, including the recently restored Buckingham County Training School at Ellis Acres in Dillwyn.
