C.G. Gordon Moss Lecture: Featuring Dr. Blair LM Kelley

March 19 @ 6:30 pm

The Robert Russa Moton Museum, in partnership with Longwood University, invites you to this year’s C.G. Gordon Moss Lecture featuring Dr. Blair LM Kelley, the Joel R. Williamson Distinguished Professor of Southern Studies at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and director of the Center for the Study of the American South.

Dr. Kelley is an award-winning historian, author, and public scholar. Her latest book, Black Folk: The Roots of the Black Working Class, explores the historical and cultural significance of Black working people and their central role in shaping American society. Through her research and storytelling, she highlights often-overlooked narratives of labor, resilience, and activism that have defined the Black experience in the United States.

Join us on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 6:30 PM in HULL 132 for an evening of history, conversation, and community as we continue the legacy of Dr. C.G. Gordon Moss, a champion for education and social justice in Prince Edward County and beyond. This event is free and open to all.

The annual C.G. Gordon Moss Lecture is sponsored by the Moton Museum, Longwood University’s Office of Academic Affairs, Greenwood Library, and Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy.  Admission is free and open to all. For more details, please contact Leah Brown at [email protected].
