Internship Spotlight: Annabelle Riexinger, Senior History Major, Longwood University

The Moton Museum is excited to welcome Annabelle Riexinger as our Education & Outreach Intern for the fall of 2021. Annabelle is from Clifton, Virginia, and a graduate of Centreville High School.  Annabelle is a Senior at Longwood University. Annabelle has a deep interest in museums, education, and public history. She is excited to learn more about the work of the Moton Museum and is excited about what the opportunities gained this semester will mean for her future. We are so excited to have Annabelle working with us this fall. Welcome, Annabelle!

Where do you attend school, what is your major?

I’m a senior at Longwood University majoring in History with a minor in Political Science.

How did you first come to learn about the Moton Story?

I learned about Moton’s story during my Sociology of Education course in college.

What inspired you to apply for our Moton Internship Program?

I have loved learning about the Moton Story and I thought it would be a great environment to do my internship in.

What are your future career goals and how will work with Moton impact that works?

I would love to work in the education department of a museum. I have been working with Leah Brown who is the assistant director for education to understand the tasks of a museum educator.

What is your favorite quote?

“If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, then its a duck”

Who is someone you really admire and why?

Abraham Lincoln because he pushed forward during the division of our nation.

What has been your favorite college course and why?

My favorite course I have taken in college was when I was studying abroad in Plymouth, England. I took a World War II class and loved learning about the war from the British perspective.
