Rapsody, Add-2 to perform at Moton, Thursday, September 17

Fresh off Kendrick Lamar’s explosive ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ EP, Rapsody is bringing real hip-hop to South Central Virginia on Thursday, September 17th.

Catch her and Jamla Records label-mate, ADD-2, for an unforgettable free show at historic Moton, emceed by Richmond native, Blair Ebony “DJ B.E.” Smith, with special guest opening act, local favorite Nina Ross.  Doors open at 8PM, with the show set to begin at 9PM.

About Rapsody

Rapsody is a North Carolina emcee signed with super producer 9th Wonder for Jamla Records.  With the release of seven projects in just three years and a critically acclaimed debut album in August of 2012, she is slowly establishing herself as a major player in today’s rap game.

In just a short time she has worked with some of the biggest legends and newcomers in the business, ranging from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, Raekwon, Big Daddy Kane, Marsha Ambrosius, Mac Miller and Big K.R.I.T, to name a few.

Most recently, she was named one of the top female artist to know by both TIME Magazine and USA Today.  She was also named one of the 20 Greatest Female Rappers of All Time by XXL.  She most recently released a ten track EP titled Beauty and the Beast to much acclaim and she is currently working on her sophomore album.

Her style is polished and distinct, and her wordplay and flow are unparalleled in both delivery and execution.  As she strives to contend with her Hip Hop predecessors, like Jay-Z and Mos Def, Rapsody is already undeniably one of the strongest and most promising forces in today’s Hip Hop culture.

About Add-2

Add-2 has been captivating listeners & taste makers ears and imagination with his unique blend of Hip Hop, Soul and Jazz. From his acrobatic word play, his detailed story-telling and his no holds barred social commentary; Add-2 has emerged as a respected voice of clarity in the midst of the noise in a chaotic world. Growing up on Chicago’s notorious south side, Add-2 was determined to tell a story that was not often told but was desperately needed: A story about survival.

After releasing several mixtapes and a collaborative EP with producer KHRYSIS titled “Between Heaven And Hell”, Add-2 has earned a list of accomplishments including being featured on Mtv2, MtvU, FUSE, Shade 45, working with clothing company LRG, he has performed alongside legendary hip hop band The Roots and has received praise from rapper/actor Common, who named Add-2 an artist to watch:

In October 2013, Add-2 officially joined 9th Wonder’s music label JAMLA Records and is currently gearing up to release his debut album Prey For The Poor.
